Received same msg as stated in other comments. Pay via paypal or bank account, shipping agent to pick up etc etc. Communication went on for about 3 to 4 emails and then stopped when i asked for proof of payment.

My experience is as above. Gumtree seems, has throat cancer, wants to buy as a present for Niece without viewing. Will send agent to collect. Wants PayPal detail to pay in advance. Seems v suspicious that so many people have the same experience. I’ll avoid now.

Got an sms about the car I have on gumtree. Wanted to know if it was still available etc. wanted me to email back. ( After checking the number (a huge thanks to everyone that commented on this) I will not be emailing these scammers). [email protected] Cheung was the name they gave me.

Gumtree scammer- initial contact by SMS. Offered full price for item plus pick up by courier, then sent bogus PayPal invoice for prepayment. Used name "Mark Thompson" and email, "[email protected]. Stay clear!

They emailed about my sofas that were on Gumtree and said: 1; remove the advert as they're paying full asking price 2; need to buy it for my cousin as a gift, and did thorough check on the advert 3; can't come personally, house bound went through throat cancer surgery 4; an agent would pick it up at my preferred location 5; they'll pay via PayPal today and pick up will start after money is received today

Received call from this number - they had ALL my information and I mean ALL - but they could not or would not provide me with any of the information for the debt that I supposedly accrued. When I said I was a paralegal they got antsy and hung up.
